Purchases, billing & refunds

AboveMe is sold on the Mac App Store. Apple processes all payments, receipts, and tax. We do not handle or store your card details.

Refunds and billing issues are managed by Apple. Open the App Store app, sign in, then use reportaproblem.apple.com or your purchase history to request a refund or report a problem.

Family Sharing follows Apple's rules for the Mac App Store. If a purchase is not visible on a family member's Mac, check Family Sharing settings and the Purchaser's account in the App Store.

Data & privacy (summary)

AboveMe is designed for privacy: we do not collect, store, or share personal data on our servers. Location is used on your Mac only to determine nearby aircraft and is not sent to us.

There are no accounts, no in-app analytics SDKs from us, and no tracking cookies on this marketing site beyond what your browser or host may apply.

Permissions & Location Services

  1. Open System SettingsPrivacy & SecurityLocation Services.
  2. Confirm Location Services is on.
  3. Find AboveMe and set access to While Using or the option that matches your macOS version.
  4. Quit and reopen AboveMe if it still cannot access location.

Troubleshooting

  • Internet: AboveMe needs a working connection to retrieve live aircraft data.
  • VPNs / firewalls / corporate networks can block traffic. Try another network or temporarily disable the VPN to test.
  • Date & time: Incorrect system time can cause secure connections to fail—enable “Set time and date automatically” in System Settings.
  • Updates: Install the latest AboveMe from the Mac App Store and keep macOS updated for best compatibility.

Frequently asked questions

Is coverage global?
Yes. AboveMe works anywhere there is ADS-B coverage and data is available to the app. Remote or oceanic areas may show fewer aircraft.
I don't see any planes?
Ensure Location Services are enabled for AboveMe in System Settings, confirm you are online, and try widening the range in the app. Very low traffic areas may have no aircraft at times.
Does AboveMe work offline?
Live tracking requires a network connection. Cached or static parts of the interface may still appear offline, but positions will not update until you reconnect.
Who provides the flight data?
Aircraft positions come from ADS-B and related sources aggregated for display in the app. Availability and accuracy depend on third-party feeds and coverage—not all aircraft broadcast ADS-B.

Map display uses Apple's MapKit and is subject to Apple Maps terms and regional availability.
